Flametree Ball with a twist – 16 June 2018

Come one come all to our much anticipated annual Flametree Ball with a twist!

Come to the lovely green lands of Adora and share a weekend with overnight camping at the beautiful Kum Ba Yah campgrounds, set in the beautiful guides camp in Mt Keira. This event will be catered for a light lunch, Feast on Saturday with breakfast and a light lunch on Sunday.

Getting There

By Car

Mt Keira Scout Camp is easily accessible by car. It is about 1.5 Hours drive from Sydney, 2.5 hours drive from Canberra and a mere 15 minutes from Wollongong.

From Canberra

  • Drive East on the Hume Hwy
  • Turn right onto Picton Road (B88)
  • Turn Right onto Mt Kiera Road
  • Drive Approx 8km and Turn Right into Scout Camp

From Sydney

  • Drive West on the Hume Hwy
  • Turn right onto Picton Road (B88)
  • Turn Right onto Mt Kiera Road
  • Drive Approx 8km and Turn Right into Scout Camp

Or

  • Drive South on the M1 Motorway
  • Take Exit for Picton Road (B88)
  • Turn Right onto Mt Kiera Road

By Train

The stewarding team is providing a shuttle service to and from the Wollongong train station. If you can get to the train you can get to the event!

We will be picking people up on Friday afternoon and taking them back on Sunday afternoon.

If you wish to use this service please advise the preferred pickup and drop-off times and a contact mobile number (So we can contact you on the day if need be) at the time of booking. Trains run periodically. The timetables are available at http://www.sydneytrains.info/timetables/

Accomodation

There is both Dormitory accommodation as well as camping space available. There is NOT enough Dormitory accommodation for everyone. Dormitory accommodation will be allocated on a “First Booked First preference” basis.

Arts and Sciences

There will be an open A&S Competition.

The theme is simple….

“COLD”

You could enter something you wear that stops you from getting COLD, something you have brewed, best served COLD, an illuminated summer scene, because it isn’t COLD. A theatrical piece where a character dies and ends up COLD in the ground. Use your imagination and bring your best work forward.

Right now we are working on the A&S Timetable. This is a great opportunity for you to share what you know with other like minded people. Perhaps you have run lots of classes before, perhaps you have never run a class but would like to give it a try. All skill levels and all subjects are welcome!

Please advise when Booking if you wish to run a class. The Arts and Sciences timetable will be published closer to the event.

Volunteering

The very lifeblood of SCA Events is people volunteering their time to help the event run smoothly. When Booking please advise if you are willing to help with any of the following:

Tournament By the Sea

Come One and Come All to the Tournament by the Sea with a Day of Fighting, Feast in the Evening.

Date: 10th March 2018

Location:

The first part of the Event (Tournament) will take place at the Malua Bay Foreshore area in the Park At the corner of Kuppa Ave and George Bass Drive. The Feast will take place in the Malua Bay Community Centre.

How to Get there.

Drive south over the Batemans Bay Bridge. Turn left at the second set of traffic lights onto Beach Road (you will see the McDonalds at this corner). Follow Beach Road for approximately 12 km. Kuppa Avenue is on the left just after some shops.

Takeaway Pizza / Fish and chips

There are outdoor showers in the park, not suitable for a “getting ready for the feast” shower but great for after having a dip in the ocean after the tournament. There are changerooms as well.

Flametree Ball 2017

The Shire of Adora invites you to Flametree Ball. An exciting day with a heavy tournament in the afternoon with dance classes taking place leading to a wonderful evening with dancing and music to lose track of time and place.

Adoran Fighter Training

Northern Part of the Shire

Adoran fighter training is held in two alternating locations, from 9:00am – 12:00 noon every second Saturday:

  1. Campus Martius (property of the Seneschal, Titus Flavius Marcellus), and
  2. Stuart park near the skydivers hut.

Please contact the Adoran Marshal for more details.

Southern Part of the Shire

Fighter Training is held in Korners Park, Batemans Bay every Thursday from 5:30pm

Feast of Four Winds 2015

The winds of time are blowing a gale. Join us as we celebrate four different cultures from throughout history by recreating a menu and entertainment as might have been enjoyed by the lords and ladies of Rome in the 8th century, the Middle East in the 12th century, France in the 15th century and England in the 16th century.

An arts and sciences competition will be run on the night. It will be an open competition (any item) from one of the four time periods above.

Date: Sat 14th November 2015
Time: 5:30pm to 10:30 pm

The next day will be Adora’s November Omnia event (brought forward from the last Sunday to the third, just for November). Attendees have the option of camping overnight. A simple breakfast (bacon, eggs, toast, porridge) will be cooked for those who stay, and lunch on Sunday will be a sausage sizzle instead of the usual pot luck.
