Adora Shire General Meeting Minutes 25/10/15 Attendance: Nicholas Sheppard, Jennie Whyburn, Adele Beck, Anthony Lange, Rachel Oakman, Warwick McGrath, Simon Donnachy, Emily McMahon, Daniel McMahon, Shannon Waite Apologies: Brian Pinch, Matt Wiliiamson Simon Donnachy *Meeting opened at 2pm *Niall has approved Seth (Daniel McMahon) to be shire Marshall. *Shoalhaven Superheroes Day went well with lots of interest from people. We had help from Atticans Charlie and Rob, and Adorans Simon, Aelfred and Seth. Charlie has asked if we could help with similar events. (We like to help). (: *Omnia has been successful so far; hopefully more attendance and lessons planned for next year. *Thanks to Osric (Anthony Lange) for taking time out of his schedule every month to set up and run archery at every Omnia. It is greatly appreciated. Shannon Waite *Fortnightly stitch pending official email. Decided previous meeting that 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month will be stitch night with changes to date at necessity and posted in advance. *I would like to extend Stitch by an hour (from 7pm to 10pm) so that people who want to work on bigger projects have more time available to them. Motion by Shannon, seconded by Bethany (Jennie Whyburn) Jennie Whyburn: * *The shire currently has $4624.80 as of 20 October, 2015, with Kingdom Levy, event insurance and GST for Omnia yet to be taken out. Nicholas Sheppard: *Will write up Marshall's report in the next few weeks. *All marshalls at events are to report to new shire marshall, Seth (Daniel McMahon) *Maelgwn (Warwick McGrath) will miss Aelfred (Nicholas Sheppard). *Mystery tankard left at Flametree a few years ago, no owner found. Simon Donnachy: Would like to thank Aelfred for his years of contribution to Adora, as marshall. Presented Aelfred with a scroll in thanks. Emily McMahon: *Emily was asked about Omnia by WaveFM and as such our event was advertised on radio. *Posters made to advertise Omnia, with no opportunity to distribute *Classes organised for Omnia with some postponed (e.g. brewery). Preference not to roll them over into the next month. *Rafe to run combat archery at Novmber Omnia. Heavy/War scenarios depending on numbers *November Omnia to have a market. *Pop-up gazebo for target archery, particularly because hot weather. *Hopefully there will be teachers for Marshall stuff *Hopefully silk banner painting, pending Lynn's attendance *Emily has asked for suggestions for next months lessons? *Planning the site for combat archery/rapier/ *Won't know if scouts are camping onsite where archery is normally set up til on the day. *Emily is looking for someone to take over Omnia next year Simon Donnachy: *War on Asylum declared by Adora at Spring War for being unchivalrous (and evil) on the battle field. Announcement well received, people already declaring allegiance (St Ursula declared for Adora). Baron and Baroness are ok with the war depending on the Crown's agenda. There's also a chance that the announcement was misunderstood as a banner for all those who ally themselves with Adora, when it was meant that the losing side would make a banner on behalf of the winning side. This needs to be clarified. The plan is to make it theatrical and fun, and to make it as BIG as possible. Motion by Maelgwn (Warwick McGrath) to wrap Mathias in bubblewrap if he fights. 2nd by Seth (Daniel McMahon). *Boffer swords almost complete *Silk banners planned *Feasting bags done and stamped *Regarding Festival, Maelgwn (Warwick McGrath) nominated by Phaedre (Emily McMahon) to be Slumlord2016. Is an armour tent necessary or desired as a place to collectively store Adoran's armour and a place to armour up - avoids clutter in individual tents, place to keep it dry/cool, also a tent large enough to stand up in and armour up. *Maelgwn (Warwick McGrath) may pick up Aelfred's tent? *Dragon Mascots for our war procession? Dragon kites also suggested. *Where are the old pavillion tents? Emily McMahon: Regarding the upcoming Feast of Four Winds, there will be entertainment, including a puppetshow. Shannon is nominated to make puppets, Adele to help with the play at the Feast. Anton and ? doing a skit with help from Yockun. Belly dancing but entertainment from 15th C France necessary. It seems a good idea that the shire creates largesse for the Shire to give people for their effort, e.g. travelling for lessons. (e.g. tassels, scrolls, purses). Osric to make a mini arrow for Rafe. Warwick McGrath: Suggest that the Fisher's Ghost Festival would be a great way for the group to get exposure and publicity and potential for recruitment. This year clashes with Crown, but there is a plan to look into it next year. Viva la Gong is another opportunity for Adora to recruit locally. Advise that there are people doing things, not JUST fighting - embroidery, archery, weaving, leatherwork, sewing, whatever - rather than rely on displays to generate interest. Emphasis on what the local group does rather than what the SCA does in general, i.e. if we're not doing regular fighting training, do not advertise fighting as a main aspect of our group.
